Quinta do Gradil is an easy journey from Lisbon, whether on a guided excursion or traveling independently.
After everyone’s tubs of grapes had been loaded onto trucks, kids were welcomed into the winery to tread grapes and enjoy an early children’s meal.
However, the estate itself has been vinifying wine in one form or another since the 1400s. Vieira purchased a project, and not just in reclaiming the vines and planting new ones: On the main house, the roof was caving in, and the quinta’s chapel was in extreme disrepair.

We really enjoyed our lunch, and we proceeded with booking our rehearsal dinner at Quinta do Arneiro shortly thereafter. For our rehearsal dinner, we rented out the entire property. Our evening started with a tour of the farm by the owner Mariana, a longer than an hour “happy hour” with a saxophonist, and then a 5 course dinner, all of which was totally amazing!
All in all, I would cem% recommend Quinta do Arneiro as a venue for a large party or even a wedding! The grounds are stunning and exceptionally well kept.
Entire gradil 50x200 villa with pool and lawn Quintinha do Caruncho is a house in a small village near Malveira/Mafra, with a large outdoor space, swimming pool, lawn and barbecue area. The house can accommodate up to 10 people, has 2 bathrooms and an open space kitchen, living room and dining room to promote conviviality. Vieira bought Quinta do Gradil 16 years ago, and like many quintas within striking distance of Lisbon, it has a colorful history. The quinta belonged to the Marques por Pombal (famous for rebuilding Lisbon after the great earthquake of 1755), which he supposedly purchased for a mistress.
Then, the reds go into the cement tanks, and the whites into stainless steel. Trucks lining the courtyard outside wait to take finished wine to another facility for bottling.
The Tannat spent 12 months in new French oak, creating medium to strong tannins. It was suggested to try with gambas caril (shrimp curry), and I can see that would be an interesting match.
The three-course dinner was served with impressive precision—waiters marching out almost as a drill team, bringing plates to each table in turn.
